Thunderpuss 2000, the hitmaking production team of Chris Cox and Barry Harris, are very serious contenders for the next Grammy Remixer Of The Year Award in the year 2000. Wearing their many hats as artists/songwriters/producers and remixers, TP2k (as they are also known) is responsible for three #1 hit remixes this year — Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” and “My Love Is Your Love” along with Amber’s “Sexual (LiDaDi).” “My Love Is Your Love” and “Sexual (LiDaDi)” were #1’s on both the Billboard Club Play and Billboard Maxi-Singles Sales charts. “Sexual (LiDaDi)” topped the Maxi-Singles Sales Chart six consecutive weeks and was replaced by “My Love Is Your Love.” The Gold-certified TP2k remix of “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” also went Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been the anthem of 1999 as the remix is still getting major airplay on radio stations around the country and is a dance club favorite around the world. Both MTV and VH1 had the remix version of the video in regular rotation this past Summer. And most recently, Whitney has incorporated the TP2k remix of “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” on the European part of her 1999 World Tour.
Remixes for Taylor Dayne “Naked Without You,” Jennifer Holliday “A Woman’s Got The Power” and Abigail’s “Let The Joy Rise” were all Top 10 dance chart hits this year. “Naked Without You” was a Top 5 charting track. Their remix for The Tamperer’s “If You Buy This Record” also earned dance chart success. TP2k also remixed Billie Myers’ “Kiss The Rain” and Britney Spears’ “Sometimes.” The 1998 dance version of the legendary Engelbert Humperdinck’s Top 10 hit “Release Me” also received the Thunderpuss 2000 touch. Both also lent their remixing skills to Interhit Records’ 1998 Grammy Award-winner for “Best Dance Recording” – “Carry On” by Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder.
Recent projects for Thunderpuss 2000 include remixes for Donna Summer’s “Love Is The Healer” . Their original co-production of the song appears on her Epic album VH1 Presents Donna Summer: Live & More – Encore! Their remix of The Pet Shop Boys’ “New York City Boy” is currently quickly climbing the European, U.K. & U.S. charts. The current top 10 U.S. dance chart hit for Interscope’s Louchie Lou & Michie One’s “Body Rock” was also remixed by TP2k, as was Kristine W’s “Clubland,” which is scheduled to be released later this year on RCA Records. Also watch out for remixes of “17 Again” by the Eurythmics, “Think It Over” by Jennifer Holliday and “The Christmas Song” by Christine Aguilera to be released late fall ’99!
